The Founder of the Institution is professionally a Medical Practitioner. He established the Institution in 20th July 1964. In the beginning he imparted free “First Aid” Training to the weaker section Community Students in collaboration with
St. John’s Ambulance Association of India and place so many students in different factories, Govt. of Departments.
The Founder, who became blind in an accident during his Medical Project at Kalka, near Simla lost his both eyes in 1966. His vision towards the disabled community is much thicker after his blindness and he started weaving, wire-knitting training for the visually handicapped persons and placed them in contract work with Railways, Revenue Board, Central Government Offices during the Period of 1972 to 1982.
He officially registered the Institution under Indian Societies Act XXI of 1860 on 16th August 1972 and the Regn. No. is 171/1972. After Registration he started Candle Making Training for Visually Impaired in 1976 and the same was inaugurated by the Director of Industries and Commerce, Govt. of Tamilnadu, Mr.V.Selvaraj, I.A.S and got allotment of wax quota for the Training.
Past Governors of Tamilnadu Shri.Mohanlal Sugathea, Shri.K.K.Sha, Minister of our State visited the Institution in 1976 and distributed Free Imported Guilt’s, Soaps etc., to the slum dwellers and Disabled – more than 500 beneficiaries are benefited. He expanded the Training Unit by adding Agarbathi Making Training (Scented Sticks Making) for Disabled & widows in 1997 which is also inaugurated by HE The Governor of Tamilnadu Shri.Prabhudoss Patwari in presence of Hon’ble Minister for Social Welfare. The Present General Secretary of Social Service Centre is very interested in the social activities and got married with the Founder in October 1977.
