The Founder has been continued his services and started Tailoring Unit for the Disabled in 1980-81. Two tailoring machines were contributed by State Social Welfare Board in the year 1980-81
|
In Order to expand the services to the rural community, he shifted the Institution from the City to Velachery in 1982 (it was a village in the year 1982-1987) where he started Co-operative Match Industry in the name physically handicapped match Co-operative society Limited “PHICO” under the guidance of Co-operative Department and employed 25 Disabled in the PHICO Unit. This unit was inaugurated by Hon’ble
Minister for Rural Industries, Shri.K.A.Krishnasamy in the esteemed presence of Shri.K.Draviam, I.A.S., then C.S to Government of
Tamilnadu and VVIPS of our state.
During the years of 1982-89 at Velachery, the Institution covered more than 1500 beneficiaries hailing from the slums of Velachery SC Colony and Dharamani SC Colony. Most of the beneficiaries are by imparting RAP scheme (Rural Artician Programme) in toys making with support of District Industries Centre, Kanchipuram most of the beneficiaries are self-supportive now.

The Founder worked hard for the uplift of the differently able and poor and the rural community and therefore he fight with the Government for allotment of land at any one of the village of Kanchipuram District.
On recognition of the Services of the Founder and suffering of the blind inmates who are living in small rooms at Velachery, the Tamilnadu Government allotted about an acre of land at Vandalur Village, Chenglepet Taluk, Kanchipuram District in December 1989 and allotted patta in the name of Social Service Centre.
The founder was invited by the RCI, New Delhi for a National Seminar on Rehabilitation of the Disabled person under the presidentship of the president of RCI in the esteemed presence of honourable Prime Minister of India. Shri. Rajiv Gandhi. The founder attended the seminar and produced a paper on Rehabilitation of the visually impaired through vocational Training in Modern Technology and placement services in various sectors.

On getting the land, the Founder approached some well-wishers and bankers to construct compound wall around the entire land. His voice was heard and the past M.D. of Indian Bank Shri.M Gopalakrishnan constructed the Compound wall at the Bank’s Economic Development Programme by their own contractors. Then Dr.M.A.M.Ramasamy, Pro-Chancellor of Annamalai University donated a Asbestos shed at the cost of Rs.54,000/- accommodate the Blind girls but it is not sufficient. So, The Founder approach the Rural Development and Local Development Departme nt, Govt. of Tamil for a training Building for the handicapped youth of Kanchipuram District. The Commissioner of Rural Development (C.R.D) and the C.S to Government of Tamilnadu considered our application on compassionate grounds and granted 100% subsidy towards construction of Training Building at the Cost of Rs.1,84,456/- in the same year 1989-90 under I.R.P.D (Integrated Rural Development Programme) Training is imparted to 100 Disabled youth in various Trades during the year 1991-92,92-93, 93-94 and 1995-96. Hostel accommodation to Disabled Youth and children is also provided by the Institution. Some letters of correspondence and photos showing distribution aids and appliances certificates to successful trainees are enclosed.
The Foundation stone for the Training shed under IRDP was laid down by Shri. R. Kirubhakaran, IAS, Secretary to Govt. Social Welfare & NMP, Department in the presence of Shri. R. Arumugam, I.A.S., Commissioner for Rural Development in Dec. 1990.

The New IRDP Building, Integrated School Building for disabled were inaugurated by H.E. The Governor of Tamilnadu. Shri. Surjith Singh Burnala, during the Silver Jubilee of Social Service Centre on 08-01-1991. Shri.M.M. Rajendran, I.A.S., then Chief Secretary to Govt. of Tamilnadu, Shri. Sripal, I.P.S., D.G.P., Govt. of Tamilnadu. Shri. M. Gopalakrishnan, Chairman & M.D. Indian Bank, Shri. M.A.M. Ramaswamy, Pro-chancellor of Annamalai University and distinguished VVIPs are participated. Shri. S.J. Sadiq Basha, Hon’ble Minister for Law, presided over the function.

The School is also upgraded to Middle School in course of the Year 1993-94 and 1995-96 and PIED Scheme is undertaken by the School (Pilot Scheme for Integrated Education for Disabled). The School is recognized by the Department of Education and Teaching aids is
granted upto Vth Std by the Government
of Tamilnadu Education Department – vide copies of letters in Tamil and English are enclosed with some Photos showing the participation of Director of

Due to the increase of strength, the Founder approached British High Commission in New Delhi towards construction of Dormitory, kitchen, toilets, bathrooms for Disabled youth in 1995. The Officials from the British Embasse in New Delhi visited the Institution and recommended the Project to the Commissioner. The Commissioner sanctioned Rs.5,00,000/- towards the construction of building for Hostel.

Starting with 108 Children in the year 1991, the strength had been increase year after year . The Education and boarding, lodging are at Free of Cost to all the students including Disabled. Every Year, 50 to 75 Students complete their 8th std successfully and joined in the neighboring school for Higher Education.
The School was inspected by the Educational Authorities every years and good record is maintained upto date. Some group of photos of students enclosed.
In order to provide job-oriented training to the Disabled and Weaker section of the Community, the Founder decided to start Type-writing-shorthand – Stenography, Computer courses to the educated youth.
So, he approach
the State Social Welfare Board to impart training in
Type-writing and Stenography course in our Institution.
The Project officers of Tamilnadu State Social Welfare Board, Ch-35 inspected our Institution and recommended to Central Social Welfare
Board, New Delhi. The Central Social Welfare Board accorded sanction for the above project for 50 trainees of Weaker section of the community in 2001-02. The Institution purchase 10 Type-writing machines Furnitures and |

imparting training to 50 students and sent them for Type-writing exam and got 40% result. This unit is till continuing and providing Free Technical Education to Disabled and SC Students with the approval of Directorate of Technical Exam, Govt. of Tamilnadu permanent Approval No. granted by D.T.E is 231070.

The year 1995 is a golden year for our Institution. The Institution received National Award for its outstanding services to the disabled in placement from H.E. The President of India. Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma in 3rd December 1995 at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.In 1996, the Founder had been to New Delhi to attend a seminar on Rehablitation of the disabled in the area of visual impairment and when he met the Governor of Delhi and the Chief Commissioner for disabled Dr. Uma Tuli.

20-07-1996, The founders Day and Anniversary of Social Service Centre / Willys Integrated Middle School were celebrated. Shri. K. Anbazhagan, Hon’ble Minister of Education Govt. of Tamilnadu and Smt. Sargunapandian, Hon’ble Minister for welfare were participated. Justice P.R. Gokulakrishnan, Chief Justice (Retd.) & Patron Social Service Centre, presided over the function. Hon’ble ministers distributed the gifts & aids & appliances to the physically challenged.
The Strength of the School, Hostel, Training Unit had been increased year after year but the accommodation is insufficient. So, he approached One Donor Agency at SPAIN and got a donation towards the construction of Office Room, Training Room, Class rooms, HM Room etc., in the year 2001-02 and building
is over by January 2002. Unfortunately, The Founder fell down in the Bath room and got stroke and hospitalized for more than 6 months and finally
passed away in 10th August 2002 leaving his dream to his wife and Executive Members.
The sisters of Manos Unidas, Spain visited at the Institution in 2003 and witnessed the building donated by them.
In order to fulfill the dream Mrs.David has taken severe steps and organized the Committee and with hold the activities of the Institution on line. She started Computer Centre in 2002 itself and imparted Training to Disabled who have successfully completed the Type-writing exam and got the approval of Directorate of Technical Exam to appear exam for O.A Course in Computer (Office Automation in Computer) with the syllabus approved by the Government of Tamilnadu and Anna University. The numbers of Disabled beneficiaries who appeared the exam and succeed are given below.

Medical Camp (General) :
There are 6 medical camps conducted by the Institution during the years 2003, 2004 and 2005. 2 camps per years. During medical camp, free medicines, tonics, etc are supplied to the patients according to the disease and needs.
